Being an international, have you ever thought about how a sports club works in Netherlands? Well, most of the internationals got an answer to this question on Friday, November 16th.
Together with Meerhoven Internationals Platform (which initiated the idea to have a sports event in Meerhoven), Eindhoven Sport had organised Sports Lounge event for the international residents of Meerhoven. The location was the DBS football club in Meerhoven who cordially agreed to host the event. Sixty five people attended the event.
A representative from Eindhoven Sport, Yvonne Swinkels, gave a brief presentation about different sports clubs and the facilities they offer. She included some practical information helping foreigners to navigate in the sports system in the Netherlands. Her presentation can be viewed again here.
The organisers had invited representatives of around 20 local sports clubs who could present themselves at the stalls arranged for all present. These were among others Aikido, Kaya Yoga, Bowling Vereniging, Slow sports, Den Ekkerman, GV Voorwaarts. Some of them also provided discount vouchers.
Naturally, the team of MIP was present as well to help out and answer any questions that Meerhoven residents might have had.
